Wedding Vendor Spotlight - Midnight Pine Photography

As we prepare to invite you to visit our event and wedding venue at our upcoming Open House at Rustic Rose Hall, I thought it would be nice to hear from some of our local vendors here in Broken Bow, OK.

I recently reached out to Morgan Elledge of Midnight Pine Photography and asked her to share some of her stunning photos and photography advice for brides planning their upcoming sessions. Morgan has four years of experience in photography, and her goal is to help make your engagement session, your bridals, and your wedding day as stress free as possible.

Every photographer has their own style, and Midnight Pine is no different. Morgan focuses on capturing the bride and groom as they share their love in fun, quirky moments. She believes these moments truly encapsulate the joy of a couple, an engagement, or a wedding day. In addition, you can see in her photos that she is an expert at creating a romantic moodiness and unique style to each session. Morgan believes that even the unplanned surprises are meant to be and help make your session as unique as your love story.

Everyone wants to know what to wear for their photo sessions, and Morgan’s advice is simple. Wear something that is true to yourself and your own unique style. Midnight Pine Photography is there to capture the bride feeling beautiful and empowered. If you have been dreaming of wearing that shockingly, extravagant black wedding gown, Morgan is all about adding a little mood to the session to match your style. Maybe you want something sexy and risqué for your engagement or boudoir session. Midnight Pine knows how to help you feel confident in showing off your curves. The elegance and simplicity of a beautiful traditional wedding gown of silk or lace is always the perfect choice for any stunningly beautiful bridal session. Make sure your partner also incorporates something personal into his style. A suit with a unique tie, a baseball cap, or a nod to his favorite sports team.

Above all, consider adding personal items to your attire for your session. Special shoes can add the perfect touch to an outfit with an unexpected burst of color, a sexy heel, a moody boot, or a personalized sneaker. Hair pieces, jewelry, or a veil can add just the right amount of romance to your outfit.  Custom leatherwork can add the perfect rustic touch.

When it comes to locations for your photo session, Morgan is up for an adventure if you are. She would love to go on a Broken Bow hike with you both to find the perfect photo location. Nature is the perfect background. She believes romantic photos are created in the woods surrounded by trees. Taking a few steps into the river or lake can add amazing color and depth to your photos.

About an hour after sunrise or an hour before sunset is the best time of day for your photo session. Cloudy days add a romantic touch of moodiness to photos, and the cloud cover provides you with a full day of good lighting for your session. Morgan’s advice for days that are a little rainy or windy is to embrace it. Some of the most beautiful sessions happen when you allow nature to enhance your moment together.

Special effects are not used during sessions with Midnight Photography unless it is something provided by the clients such as smoke bombs or sparklers. Photo enhancements may be added to the background during editing if appropriate. Photo enhancements can include adding stars to the night sky or enhancing the sun flare.

Sessions with Midnight Photography are usually an hour to an hour and a half depending on location. Plan on a longer session if you are hiking to a remote area. She prefers to not plan anything less than an hour because you need time to become comfortable enough to reveal your true personalities and enjoy the moment.

Editing for normal sessions is usually 4-6 weeks, but Morgan always sends a sneak peek within a week of you session or wedding. Weddings and elopement packages can take up to 10-12 weeks to edit. All sessions come with a full gallery of photos that will take your breath away.

Overall, Morgan advises the couples to have fun; it’s a celebration! Enjoy your day and don’t plan for perfection. You will make the best memories if you know that things might not go as planned and just go with the flow. Also, trust your photographer to help you scout locations for photos, plan for the lighting, and encourage you to be confident in yourselves. Your photo session should be something enjoyable for you both. Capturing your love requires you to be focused on each other and not on everything around you.
