These seasonal weddings have unexpected touches that really  draw the guests in and invite them to enjoy your special day.  It is the small touches that add character, and the unique way you use your favorites will make it all your own.  The fall and winter wedding does not have to fit into a standard mold and present the expected.  Give your guests some unexpected surprises of warmth and welcome.

Colors

Fall weddings do not have to be oranges, browns, or rusts.  These are beautiful choices; however, do not feel boxed in by these elements.  If you like pastels or jewel tones, use them. Instead of spring-like arrangements, try replacing some of the fresh greens with wheat, pampas grass, or feathers.  This will keep your florals unique for the season without sacrificing your color choice.  This is your wedding; use the colors that reflect who you are.  Maybe you like greens; try using more greenery and less florals to balance it out as you reflect the seasonal wedding.

Likewise, many believe that a winter wedding must follow the Christmas color scheme or the winter-wonderland color scheme.  The same is true for winter as for fall weddings, but this time add in some evergreens, crystals, whites, golds, or berries. There is no reason you cannot have a winter wedding using brights or pastels when you choose accents that will hint to the seasonal wedding. Using the outdoor ceremony area, you may wish to add some evergreen trees to the background. Imagine using the small evergreen trees available this time of year at the ends of the benches mixed with some of your color scheme in the pots, florals, or berries.

Lights

As with all weddings, you want to choose the right lighting to create the atmosphere and to work with photography.  Natural light may look different on a cold winter day than a warm summer day, so keep that in mind when choosing extra lighting elements.  Set the mood for your fall and winter weddings with plenty of candle light, string lights, patio heaters, firepits, or lights along walkways.  A warm, yellow light can go a long way to set a warm, inviting atmosphere for the reception or an outdoor ceremony. String lights above an outdoor wedding space can be enchanting, and light-wrapped trees add an elegant touch to any outdoor space.  Add curtain lights for photo areas or behind the dancefloor to add even more character.  Tall, slender candles in crystal candle holders add an elegant touch to a formal reception. Chunky white candles in hurricane vases grouped at the end of seating rows for outdoor ceremonies add charm and warmth.

Keeping Your Guests Warm

A bonus to a fall or winter wedding is that your guests will not get a sunburn or sweat in their wedding clothes during the ceremony; however, depending on the weather, they may get a little chilly.  One charming way to make sure your guests are comfortable is to provide a basket of small, thin blankets for them to cover their laps or wrap their shoulders with during the ceremony. Choose blankets to match your wedding colors and add a welcoming sign to invite them to help themselves to one.  You can order these in bulk on Amazon.

As mentioned in lighting, you may want to have small firepits in the outdoor area or patio heaters.  These will add warmth and invite your guests to enjoy their time socializing in the enchanting outdoor space you that put so much effort into decorating and setting up for them.  Rustic Rose Hall has six electrical outlets behind the pergola available to help you add all the lights you want to create a enchanting atmosphere around the outdoor ceremony area. An outdoor wedding is always so beautiful when there are extra touches of lights as your guests watch in awe as the bride makes her way to the altar

Cocktail Hour

During cocktail hour, a coffee or cocoa bar can be a welcome addition to the traditional cocktails served.  It can be indoors or outdoors at Rustic Rose Hall.  Use coffee cups that match your style.  Use solid white or black for a more formal wedding, or choose something to reflect your personality for a more boho or rustic wedding.  Rent two or more large coffee urns and label them coffee or cocoa.  Add even more character by having options available including flavored syrups, peppermint sticks, and whipped topping.

Setup a s’mores bar during this time and either allow the guests to use firepits, or have them melt the chocolate over a small burner at the bar. If you don’t want to use fire at all, have your vendor serve them hot from the oven during cocktail hour.
